My pig stopped to eat after impaction (eats like 50 gr a day). It is for 2 weeks. He is going to die if nothing special will have been done very soon.

We went to our local Medivet. They made injections (I think its vitamin B and something else) and gave us bacteria to recover digestion cycle. Today is 4th day we are feeding him with bacterias but still no luck.

I need someone who is above average vet who sees pigs once a week and know same stuff as I read in internet. I nead a real guinea pig specialist.

This is really urgent. Please share the information.

Thank you in advance.

Perhaps try the CCT. Text this number and the lady will be able to give you some advice or possibly a phone number of someone who is good in that area of problem. It is all free. Vedra - 07721026401

Ellies suggestion was what I would do. My parents have friends there who have guinea pigs and I will call them now and see what Vet they go to. Whereabout in NW London?

Thanx guys!
I live in Harrow. Money is not my first priority so please feel free to give me paid consultants.
I dont need advice in general. I do understand situation myself very well.

But I need someone who practically knows pigs that well that he/she can provide concrete instructions and medications to recreate digestion cycle and support pig's life until this cycle wont start again.

Someone who actually knows what is going on and how things works out for this particular pig.

So far I am going to make him few injections today evening (in Medivet).

Well, I just called her and she said it's in fulham, is that nearby?

Thank you guys. I will call her and let you know tomorrow how is he feeling.

Thanks for your support!

P.S. what time is convenient to call Vedra?

I text her in the evening on Sat night and she replied to me straight away and gave me the number of someone who is an expert in guinea pig pregnancy so I rang that night. Ring now I would say. If she doesn't answer leave a message and she will get back to you!

Any time. Good luck and i do hope your piggy gets well soon. keep us posted. Michele

I could send a message to Vedra if you would like me to asking if there is a convenient time for you to call her. I could explain the syptoms of your guinea pig and she might be able to give a phone number of someone who could help!

Let me get home first and see how is he. My son said the pig still looks not very bad (at least he reacts and moves). Son is only at home - me and my wife are away for 11-13 hours a day.

So I'd like to see myself how is he feeling and then I am going to Medivet. And then tomorrow morning if he wont show signs of improvement I will call Vedra.

We've got force feeding with ground herbs and water as a last resource though....

Try dandelion leaves. They are meant to be good.

See how he is. I really do recommend ringing Vedra cos at end of the day what have you got to lose by making a quick phone call.

I hope everything is aliright for your guinea pig and that he gets better.

If you need any more advice or help let us know and we will try our best to help in anyway possible.

Keep us updated too! :)

If you feel uneasy about ringing Vedra incase it is not a good time I would text her. This is how I have always got in touch with her and she just rings/texts back when she is available to talk.

Please don't wait - piggies are very good at hiding any problems or pain they are having, just incase I would go ahead and text Vedra!

I lost my piggie last week after two months of not eating. I was syringe feeding him with Recovery food mixed with water, and also fruit smoothie, which he did like. Have you had the piggie's teeth checked. It may be he can't eat because his teeth have overgrown. If you want probiotics for the gut try natural yoghurt.

My vet is good with piggies but is in Bath. I expect that is too far but you could phone him
Roger Harrison 01225 313995 or there is a website www.bathveterinarycentre.co.uk
He is really nice and is helpful.

Your situation sounds very worrying. i have been through it myself, Lots of good luck to you and the piggie.

Hi, just to say I hope you manage to get hold of someone who can give you some good advice and treatment for your guinea. Good luck!

Alex
