Urgent please

I need help I don’t know what this is am I’m very worried should I take her to the vet

Yes you should definitely take her to the vet, fur loss can be caused by many things- mites, fungal infections, hormonal issues, even a piggy biting an area that is painful- only a vet can say for sure and give you the appropriate treatment x

Yes, bring your little one to a vet. Perhaps you can tell me how old she is as I have read on some articles that large amount of hair loss could mean that your little piggy will soon go up to piggy heaven . Hope she gets better :)

@Yellowxsun would you be able to provide a link to some of these articles please.
I think if you are going to make alarming comments inferring that research has linked hair loss with death, then it would be helpful to actually include your source of information.

Personally whilst I totally agree that your piggy needs to see a vet, please try not to panic.
Guinea pigs can get many types of skin condition, and most of them are readily treatable with a clear diagnosis by a vet and the appropriate medication.

@Yellowxsun that’s a bit of an alarming statement, I’m sure you don’t mean to cause alarm, but please think of the impact on the recipient of saying something like this. And I agree with @Swissgreys if you have evidence please share it with us.

Immediately take her to a vet that can be very serious

@MistyWillow while I agree the piggy needs to see a a vet, to say it can be very serious and needs to be taken immediately can also cause alarm, so please can I ask you, too, to consider the impact of your comments on the recipient.

@Sdorgan53 I agree your piggy needs to see a vet and I hope that you get a firm diagnosis and treatment at the vets. We can offer help, support and guidance but unfortunately we can’t diagnose conditions from a photo alone.

Definitely worth a trip to the vet, as hair loss can have many causes- mites, fungus, and hormone issues in females, to name just a few. Definitely not a cause to panic, but it may well be itchy and you'll want to get to the bottom of it. Do you see her scratching or chewing at it at all?
