While I was feeding my guinea pigs tonight I noticed one, female about four years old, had blood around her nose. I looked under one of the houses and found a red chunk about the size of a quarter with the shape and feel of a small liver. I noticed she has been a bit gassy since yesterday. Can I wait to take her to the vet until tomorrow morning or is this more serious? Should I separate her from my other pig? I’m very concerned for both of them.

It sounds like your piggy needs to see a vet. Piggies can't vomit, so she didn't throw it up. It's either come off her or out of her, or of your other piggies.
Give them all a check over for injuries in case they've been fighting.
I would take the piece with you to the vet so he can maybe identify what it is.
Is there any way any of your piggies could have been pregnant?
Whatever - vet visit is in order.

Thank you, I am definitely seeing a vet when they open. Although it does resemble a placenta, I only have female piggies and I’ve had them both for four years. The only sign of injury is the blood around her nose so I believe it is something that came out and not off.

Could you take them both to the vet? I'm conscious that the blood on her nose might be from touching the piece, so isn't necessarily from that piggy.

Could it be a blood clot? If possible, I would take the clot in for the vet to see and would take both pigs just in case. I had one pig who developed nose bleeds in old age, but can't picture her being able to pass anything that large through her nostril so I would also wonder if the nose blood was incidental to that pig sniffling at the item. Can't hurt to check both out. Hoping you get some good answers!
