I've seen some guinea pigs on a free ad site, a male and female being kept together and the female is possibly pregnant. Yes I know all the do's and don'ts of getting free ad piggies and how risky it can be but I have the funds to rescue the female. The person doesn't breed piggies but told me they breed other animals including rabbits. They want £10 for the piggies. I've tried to persuade them to let me have her for free but they won't. They said they need the money to get their rats a bigger cage but I'm worried the money will support the breeding of their animals! I don't want to support that. The problem is, this guinea pig really needs rescuing and I don't want to let her go to just anyone.

What should I do? :0

I have 2 spare hutches and 2 spare runs so I have space. The main problem is that the female is 1 year old and they're not meant to have babies after 6 months. I've been told she had one litter before so hopefully she'll be ok but I'm worried she could go to someone who's going to keep the male with her and she could just get pregnant time and time again. :0

Point out to her that nobody will buy a pregnant pig as there will be so much expense involved. Expense she will ghave to have if she doesn't surrender the piggie. I'd suggest to her that the rspcs etc make you pay for giving up animals and given her irresponsibilities she really ought to do what's right for the pig now x

Advise her of rescues, and to contact one. Maybe they can help, I would not take in a pregnant guinea pig unless I had the funds to afford an emergency vet should the guinea pig have problems delivering, a good vet and the experience to be able to recognise problems.

I have but they want the money for a rat cage. :( Maybe if I get them I could try and get them into a rescue? :{

I've got them and don't regret it one bit. :0 I managed to get the male free.

The female is absolutely terrified. :( I wont be getting pics for a while sorry. They are just too scared. They were being kept on a concrete step outside by the main road with a piece of wood covering the top of them. I couldn't see any food or water, just a few strands of hay. The boy held them like ferrets, holding them under their front paws. We only went to get the female but we couldn't level the male. We managed to persuade the boy to let us have him too. Thank god they're out of that place. :0

Some people have no idea. Thank goodness you got them out of there

jesus christ how awful! :<>
Sounds like you did the right thing, normally I would say dont even look at free ads, especially pregnant piggies etc but I think this was best outcome.
Fingers crossed for mama pig and hope all goes well for you :)

You did the right thing, i was in a similar situation last week, and paid £5 to rehome someone's unwanted piggy! But it was worth it. xx

good for you! Having had a recent 'bad' experience with free ad pets (both my 2 'rescue' pigs are pregnant!) I'm still glad i took them both as I'd rather they were with me than some other person who doesn't have a clue! I'm sure you'll do your best by them and give them a good home. Keep us updated!

should've added...i got my money back from the lady who sold them to me when i told her they were pregnant, arrived 2 days later in 1st class post!

Love you've done the right thing as OMG i hate to think if just anyone had got them :...:(

Now they'll be properly cared for and loved x)
When they've settled in i await to see some pigtures..... drool

I think you have done the right thing at least now they are save. I know its not great to pay but when there is no other way somtimes its necessary.

Hope they are both ok.

Thank you :) I think the female is pregnant. :( Will upload a pic. From researching, I'm guessing around 7 weeks into the pregnancy maybe.
