Not sure if this is the right place to be putting this. We go through an awful lot of newspapers every week as we use them in our hutches and enclosures. We have just about run out and not even got enough for the clean out at the weekend. Can anyone help? If you are in the Norwich area and either have some spare papers or would be prepared to collect any in future please let me know.

Sorry i can't help Cheryl, have you asked at the newsagents? What about a large office people always buy the newspaper ask if you can collect them.

Cheryl, try and find out where the papers are distributed from to go to the shops etc. Ours is on an industrial estate and they always end up throwing loads away. I used to struggle for papers but this was a godsend LOL!

Do you know any paperboys/girls that deliver free papers? They often have some left over...

I know how you feel. I wish i could help. I collect papers, so do my parents and nan. And i always still run out! :o

Have you tried freecycle? These days there are more 'wanted' on there then 'offered' posts anyway.

I have just asked all relatives around here to collect theirs.

Also, luckily I work in an old peoples home and alot of people get a daily paper, and the domestic staff collect them for me at the end of the day :-)

That might be an idea, have you let your local old folks home know that you could do with their papers?

Ask friends as some of mine have 2 aday and they used to save them for me

My area has been issued with the recycling boxes and bags for papers. I now get my immediate neighbours to give me their newspapers which is great. I also ask my workmates to give me a bag of papers each week. Most people now keep their newspapers for recycle as it is becoming a no-no to just throw them away in the rubbish, so you may find that people will be willing to keep your theirs.

last time i cleaned the rabbbits and gp's out i used the last of my newspaper... so I'm going to get some off my dad this weekend ;D

I'll collect some for you Cheryl and deliver tomorrow.sx

Hi

Well I live oop north so sadly can't really help on this one. We get all our papers from a journalist friend of our who has about 5 papers a day - he saves big sacks full for us. Perhaps you could ask at your local paper as they will have lots left over or find out if there're any freelance journalists in your area. I'm sure they'd be only too happy to give away their many old papers!

Try at the local schools - if you could get a letter printed off for each kid to take home then try & arrange a kind of drop off point for the papers at the school. Would be a good way to spread awareness too.

I go round and raid all the recycling paper bins and those buckets people put out for the dustmen, Uncover of darkness of course.
good its making me laugh now ;D
also go to your local police station and ask them to collect papers in there TV,refs room and collect at the end of the week,

That's what i do and the coppers round here are very accommodating :-X ;D.

Know how you feel - I have actually gone to my local shop and bought 10 identical newspapers just to go into cages before. Now I have several people who collect for me!

I am no where near so can't help but I hope you sort something soon.

I work in a big office and people are really kind bringing them in for me. Also have a Press Office which helps.

I was getting desperate the other day and thought about putting a notice in my window at home - if you say it's for rescue animals people usually want to help. Could people leave them in a porch or something? (don't know whether any of the recycling centres could help - don't know if they'd be allowed to keep them back for you, probably against regs).

The thought had crost my mind ;D

Fortunatly Sally and Chris brought some round today which will definatly be enough for my clean out tonight and will leave a few towards Sundays clean out. With 40 large hutches and enclosures being cleaned out at least twice a week you can imagine how many papers I get through :o. I posted a message on freecycle this afternoon and have had a few really good responses, I am picking up a big box of papers from one lady in the morning 8)

I find the Times if you can get hold of it is fab as it covers the cage floor so well, dos't look like a patchwork quilt. :o

What do you do with the soiled newspapers sgrescue? I would love to be able to do something environmentally friendly with them but there's just too many. Some of them we've burnt in the woodstove and composted some but there's just too many (and I've only got 5 guineas, you've got 40!). So they just get binned for the landfill :(

I have almost 100 rabbits and piggies, got 40 hutches ;D unfortunatly we have to bag all the rubbish up together and get it disposed of by cleanaway, the council are very picky about what you can recycle or put in the brown bins these days ::) We have a huge industrial size wheely bin in our garage that gets emptied twice a week :o

I would get the paper boy to post a note through the doors for you asking for them to be saved and give him a small payment to collect them for you. A lttle extra in his pocket and helps you too would save you buying them.

We take the soiled stuff down the tip, Hay news paper woodshavings all go in the green section to mash up. Maidstone tip is really on the ball with it I go up there once a week so have approx 3/4 bin bags full.

them

I'll have to find out if our tip will take everything in the green section. Thanks.
