Hi folks, been to the vet this morning and Gremlin has a URI. Been given enrocare and fibreplex, trouble is, the little won't take either of them. Fibreplex I've had previous dealings with and the easiest way to get it into him is squirt it into a piece of romaine and roll it up. This is the first time he's had antibiotics and he fought me every step. Tried syringing which he just refused, tried some on pepper which he refused and then basically pinned him, put a syringe in the corner of his mouth but he wouldn't swallow and ended up with most of it down his chin. Any ideas on making things easier anyone?

There is a guide to syringe feeding on the forum which I found helpful- sorry I can’t link it for you.

Hope Gremlin recovers quickly.

Have you tried explaining to him that the medicine will help him feel better?

Oh yes, it's been explained to him but he just likes stressing me out

Healing vibes and wheeks! These daft cavies just wont listen to logic, our piggy daddy is covered in critical care and wee stains... our Blodwen pig has learned to do expert co-operative syringe feeding just in time to not need it anymore and now she wants syringe feeds not real food!
