Does anyone know what the incubation period for a URI is? I had a piggy who came down with a URI over a month ago and once he got all clear from vet was kept seperate for 3 weeks to be safe (vet told me there is a weeks incubation period but i played it safe). Yesterday which is 3 weeks on one of my other boys has gone down with it, first snuffle i had him at the vets as having 15 piggies i don't take risks. Now my question is can it lay dormant? As they have had no change to their lives, no drafts or chills or stresses unless you count eating as a stress ;) Him and his cage mate are now being quarantined away from my other boys. How long do you keep them apart once the URI has cleared?

I would put them together again. URI can become latent in piggies that have not been or not been adequately treated, which shouldn't be a problem with yours.

So you would say its safe to keep piggies being treat for a URI with other piggies? Do piggies get any immunity to it from exposure? I don't want anyone else going down with it hence why i quarantined him and his cage mate
