Sorry Rusty isn't better, I hope the Sulfatrim starts to work soon.
Some vets, if not all, do have an on site 'hospital', where they can look after pets overnight, watch them and give them any drugs etc that they think necessary. Whereabouts are you, are you anywhere near any of the forum-recommended vets?

I am in the Wirral. I go to churchview Vets in heswall. I don’t know if they are recommended.

Rustys breathing is not looking good tonight. I was thinking of asking the vets to take rusty for a few days to find out what antibiotic is best for him and possibly inject or nebulise him to give him a boost.

Has anybody done this befor? Do vets even take guinea pigs overnight? I will ask tomorrow and see what they say. I don’t think he is going to get better without some intensive treatmeant.

I honestly don’t think I can take another night of watching him struggle to breath. I have lost a stone and a half in two weeks and am not sleeping. I think I myself need the vets.
Thats how my pig got over severe bloat by staying in the vets for 48 hours. They were open 24/7 and they did a great job of looking after him. I was told he had a slim chance of making it through but he did, thanks to their service. (This was pip my old boar )

That’s good to hear. I think he will be ok until tomorrow, he is munching hay and taking the cc. He’s not really in mood for water, but that is in cc so he’s getting some.

I will ask my vets if they can do that. Hopefully he will get over it also.

They don't appear to be one of the recommended vets, though that doesn't mean they aren't good with guineas, but if they are unable to help Rusty get better, you could try one of the recommended ones if it's near enough.

Sending lots of healing vibes! Lots of us here understand what you're going through, I had a boar with a URI that wouldn't go away, this time last year .

Thank you for the link, I appreciate it. I will have a look and see. I will have to take a picture of rusty. I have only had him a month and a bit. I don’t want anything happening to him without something to remember him by, if it come to that. I hope it doesn’t.

Just a little update on rusty. He is doing well, the antibiotics seems to be working and I think he may recover. Hopefully it doesn’t stop working like the Baytril, but the vet said they can’t hear any clicks and his breathing is getting a bit better everyday. Thank you to everyone who took the time to post.

That's wonderful news! So pleased for you and Rusty
