My piggie Theo has SORT OF raspy breathing. I only hear this when I pick him up and listen real close to my ear. Absolutely zero other side affects of RI like crusty eyes, sneezing, won’t play or eat, everything else is normal. He is normal. I was wondering if this is simply because I have him in my hands and he’s sort of panicking? I’m not sure.

Piggies have very small and narrow airways and do not breathe through the mouth. That means that you can hear the least obstruction. This usually becomes more noticeable when eating or when a piggy is breathing faster, like when you pick it up or handle it.

If it doesn't go away within a week or gets worse, I would recommed to have him vet checked. Try a bowl of steaming water next to the cage and see whether that helps to ease the problem. some piggies react stronger to dry heated indoors air than others.
