My guinea pig has started weeing exessively. She seems ok and happy other than this. Her eyes ears and nose are clean and her bladder area appears clean. Could she have an infection?
Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting your concerns about your lovely piggie,.
A sudden increase in drinking is obviously of concern - and well done for noticing it. However, I'm afraid that before we can help we need a bit more information
How old is she?
What breed is she? - a description of whether she is smooth haired, has rosette tendancies etc etc will do.
Whereabouts do you live (country/state/county)?
Has she lost weight recently - if so how much? (If you haven;t been wieghing her now is the time to start)
What makes you say she is weeing excessively?
Does she live with other guineas?
Indoors or outside?
what colour/consistency is her urine?
Is there a sudden strong smell that wasn't there previously?
Has there been a dramatic change in the normal room or outdoor temperature (eg sudden drop necessitating the central heating being turned on or sudden rise?)
Sorry to ask all these questions but drinking more has so many different causes and I would hate to put you on the wrong track for want of a bit more clarification.
she is a smooth haired albino about 10 months old. She lives outdoors with another guinea pig. She hasnt been drinking anymore but is urinating more, the smell is very potent. She hasnt lost any weight and is behaving as normal. My daughter has been holding her this evening and she has urinated 4 times in the hour when normally she may have done so once. The urine is yellow and clear. We live in a village called hunsworth, cleckheaton, west yorkshire.
