Can anyone give me any tips for getting a urine sample? (It's to check for diabetes). The vet has asked my son to get one and take it in (today I think due to Cesaro being quite ill).

Thanks in advance!

Can you sit him in a plastic container of some sort ? thats the only way i can think of for catching some wee x

Or putting him on your lap - our Eddi always does a huge wee the minute he climbs onto our (or any visiting friends) laps! :inn:

But seriously, I have heard others say they just pop their piggie into a clean, plastic container and collect the sample from there.
Good luck.

I've had to get a few urine samples from Toast.
The first time I sat her in a plastic bowl but this was quite awkward as she had no where to move and she ended up pooing in her pee (which would affect the sample)
Yesterday I caged off a section of my hallway and let her run around without any towels of fleece, when she peed she was able to move away from it so the sample wasn't contaminated. I used a syringe to get it up and put it into a small container. 1ml is enough if it's a dip stick test.

Another good way is letting them run around in the bath tub and just waiting...

The bath is a good idea but... we don't have one! :( Will try the container idea and if he poo's in it you'll hear me screaming from Nottingham lol.

We have a little flexible bucket that we use. Some pigs can jump out though. Best to give as much fluid as you can before they go in the bucket. Even then some pigs hold it.

My girls are great with giving up a pee sample! Particularly useful as one is fudge with alot of problems and the other is crunchie who has IC! I sterilise and let air dry a small dish (the lid off of an old avipro plus powder tub) and keep it beside the cage, alonge with a unopened and sterile 2.5ml syringe. I bring whichever piggy i need out for a cuddle, we enjoy a lovely cuddle and i wait until they tell me they need a pee- fudges kisses turn to nibbles, crunchie teeth chatters and pulls at my clothes and mallow just tries to get up and leave casually! I pop them in their cage, watch until they pop their bums down for a pee then slide the sterilised lid under their bums. I then syringe up the pee and job done! I use vet bed so i normall push the underside of the lid down into the vetbed as i slide it under their back end- means it doesnt touch them which is good to prevent contamination and means they dont even know I'm doing it lol
