Good morning!
One of my guinea pigs, mocha, I I believe has an uri. However, she is housed with our other two females. Mocha and Penelope both have a vet appointment today, one for mocha’s uri and Penelope has just a check up.
My question is, do I need to bring my third piggy with me? If mocha does have an uri, I figured the vet would need to treat all three with antibiotics. However, I also seen that uri’s are not contagious to healthy, adult guinea pigs. I’m not quite sure on what to do 🤨

Normally other piggies would only be treated if they are showing symptoms. It’s not a foregone conclusion that any companions would also come down with it. A healthy immune system, then they are often able to fight it off.

However, as bonded piggies should never be separated, you would need to take all three to the appointment anyway regardless of how many piggies actually are seeing the vet.
