This will give you some important things to think about when choosing pet insurance. I havent bought insurance for Leeland before. in over 4 years we had no troubles. Then in the space of 4-5 months we spent nearly £1400 between her and her sister and she will continue to have issues life long I think.

I always stayed away from insurance personally because I felt it was like throwing away cash you could have saved.. but if I get more pigs, life cover for each pig will definitely be factored in our pig fund.

We've Ben thinking about getting the newbies covered to be honest father reading of some of th vet bills. We have so far been fairly lucky in the way that we haven't required any major ops but lots of little vets visits so never had to pay out anything major in one go, but it does sit in back of your mind. Will be looking into it this week.

There is only one insurer for pigs. All my pig's are insured now, just wish I would have got it sooner. Fred had lots of treatment over £1000 in 3 months they didn't pay any of it as it was all related to a previous medical condition before the insurance :(.

Live and learn! Now Big Dave has snuffed it, I have no uninsured animals at all! Pigs, dogs, tortoise, all covered!

Having just sent in ANOTHER claim today to exotic direct - this one for nearly £300, the one for £220 last month for Noodles - and the one I haven't sent in yet for Bumble, which is currently over £150 I am glad I am insured - nothing except the odd bit of conjunctivitis for 3 1/2 years - then 2 ops and a load of x-rays etc within a month! You dont expect to get your car insurance money back if you don't make a claim, but some people feel they ought to get their pet insurance money back if they don't claim - its weird how our minds work sometimes.

wow only? I suppose they know they are getting the best cover? I hope so anyway. I've been looking at exotics direct but I don't know if it's the best one. What other insurer is good?

Another £100 today for Noodles who has just had an x-ray and another £75 on Friday as she has to be referred to a specialist in Dursley at a cost of £40 for an ultrasound and £35 for a consult - bringing me up to £900 in 6 weeks and 3 of them on medication / ongoing - THANK GOD FOR INSURANCE!
