Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but Supreme Science Recovery are now doing a syringe to help with force feeding and it is a good one. I had to take Carmilla to the vets earlier (bloody runs, suspected uti) and she is on antibiotics now but I am having to make sure her gut keeps working by getting fluids and recovery into her every few hours. The vet gave me a syringe which they had been sent by the manufacturer and I can recommend it. I know this looks like a plug for a company but here it is...

The end is wide and long, both useful traits. I hope you can see it clearly. I have been using a wide syringe with the end mostly cut away to get the recovery through the nozzle - but this is easily rejected by a piggy who really doesn't want to know.

Carmilla is already showing good signs by the way, she is more relaxed in her posture and has produced some closer to solid poos. She has managed mouthfuls of grass and little bits of veg, but she is still refusing to eat properly though so we will have to have another session soon. Poor girl. She really doesn't enjoy it much. But this syringe has definitely helped as it has made a very troublesome time much less stressful. All much quicker and easier.

Here she is earlier today, isolated from the rest of the herd and feeling very tired and unhappy.

Hope this is helpful, Sarah

That does look like a useful size and shape, thanks.

Thanks for letting us know, and hope Carmilla starts to feel more like her old self soon! Chin rubs and healing vibes coming her way!

Really interesting to get another perspective on these syringes, as I hated it! Am now feeling guilty as I threw one away the other day, but I just bought a new box of recovery and one came with the order - if you'd like it Sarah, please pm me your address and I'll happily post it to you.

You're lovely to offer - but I have one now! Can I suggest if someone else wants one then they could pm you instead?

Perhaps Debbie at Furry Friends would like it - I know she put out a message for any ones used metacam syringes a while back as she does a heck of a lot of syringe feeding.

Hope little one is feeling better and back to her self soon...
I'll have to give these a try soon... Never heard of them before...

I got some like this off the vey and wasnt impressed at all. I prefer the one that came with my metacam.

I'm afraid she's had to have an op to remove a stuck bladder stone earlier. So far so good, I hope she makes it through the night and comes back home to me tomorrow.

Glad she is still recovering ok. Have you talked to Kate since lunchtime?
