Using wee as weapon 😱

Hi there,
Our girls are settling well as I thought but today I witness the less dominant female squirting wee at her mate & also her mum! it’s usallj when fresh food about... do you think I should get s bowl each for them? We have been spending a lot of time with them and this is the first time I have seen this... I see from previous threads it’s Normal but will she always do it do you think and will it settle when mum gets the message?

Wee spraying is a very strong message from one guinea pig to another to say "go away" to put it very politely! I would also get more than one bowl for food and put it at least 2 guinea pig lengths away from the other and also get two drinking bottles. I have 4 bottles on the hutch and 3 on the run for my 5 piggies and 2 food bowls and 2 treat bowls.

You can get a bowl for each to make sure no one gets left out. I do this with my piggies. Also, squirting pee like that is a sign that says back off. My Cookie does this to any of my other piggies when she's annoyed at them. I had that happen quite plenty of times on my hand whenever I want to pick her up. She's been with us for 14 months now and she still does it.

I would do away with a bowl for veggies and spread them over the floor of the cage so that no pig can hog them all. It will make feeding times less stressful and will prevent assertions of dominance. Either that or adopt the one bowl per pig rule.

We have 4 lady piggies, 4 food bowls, 2 water bottles and 2 hay trays at opposite ends of the cage, hay and extra veggies in the middle of the floor, and 4 hideys (all with 2 entrances and 2 of them big enough to accomodate 2 fat piggies who arent friends)- and still everyone wants the same thing. My piggies like each others wee though, if someone sprays wee, there is popcorning at my house. Mainly from Piggle admittedly, who always has her nose up someone else's lady bits
