Hello,

My 3 year old sow Cupcake had a UTI start on Saturday (hindsight) that I took her for Monday and she has been given Baytril 0.25ml twice a day by mouth. I requested Fibreplex which I'm giving 1ml of an hour after the Baytril.
She has been a little bit sore on her nipple I think, as it is a bit more pink than usual. As she has ben having a wet bum I have been using warm water to dunk her bottom in with a quick towel dry every night - which she seems to really enjoy and it makes her happier.
This afternoon she seemed to be a bit more hunched and not eating so much hay. After trying various veg and fruit all which she refused and no interest in hay (not like her at all), I gave a rocket, spinach and chard mix which she ate as fast as she could. So I am a bit confused now, she can obviously eat but isn't eating at present as much as she would normally. I have phoned the vets and they said if I think its the Baytril causing it and UTI looks like its cleared up (which it did look to be the case as she has been dry today) then stop the Baytril, carry on with the Fibreplex and see. Problem is I then noticed a small wet patch on her again so am afraid its too early to stop Baytril as she still has a UTI.
Any advice would be greatly welcomed, I have lost a guinea on Baytril before; with a completely different issue, but am afraid of it happening again.

Thanks

Please start syringe feeding asap to keep the guts going and fighting strength up! Weigh daily at the same time (ideally before dinner) to see how much you need to feed.
Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

You can ask your vet to switch to septrin if you are not happy with the baytril and if things don't stabilise.

Thank you,

She is due her next Baytril dose now, do you think I should not give it and stop now. She looks uncomfortable like she cant sit still, am worried the UTI is still there, but weighing that up against the not eating. Will start syringe feeding and phone vets asap in the morning.
