Remi went to the vets on Saturday as he was squeaking a lot. The vet prescribed metacam (the dog one) and co-trimoxazole but the doses seem a bit suspicious.

He is on 0.4ml of the co-trimoxazole twice a day, and 0.09ml of metacam.
The metacam dose seems really low! He is still squeaking so I don’t know if it’s doing anything at all? I’m pretty sure when I’ve been given metacam for the guinea pigs before they were on around 0.2ml a day?
Remi is around 980g, by the way.

Does this seem right?

The best thing is to really call your vet and ask if you can increase the dose.
They will be able to work out what is safe based on the weight and issues of your guinea pig.
It is important to remember that dog metacam is much stronger than cat/guinea pig metacam, so the doses won't be comparable.
