We do a bit of pig-sitting and we love our "cousin" Snowflake. She stopped eating a few days ago and also stopped drinking. Her mom took her to the vet today and they suspect she has a UTI, so she was prescribed antibiotics (I don't know what kind). Is it normal that piggies stop eating and drinking with UTIs? I've not read that anywhere else, and just want to learn as much as I can about guinea health now that we have two new pups to look after.

snow.webp Ben with Snowflake. :)

I'm so angry about the lack of guinea health education when one decides to adopt a pig. Can you believe I was told to feed Rolo 3 carrots a day when we bought him. !?

Please tell your friend to start syringe feeding asap and weigh him daily at the same time; this is MOST important because otherwise the guts will start to close down and the piggy will go downhill very quickly!

Did the vets do an x-ray for a bladder stone, as that is more likely to have cause the intense pain that can lead to a total loss appetite?
