unfortunately i cannot add photos but i need help. My guinea pig smores has a v shaped back, and his cage mate cinnamon is starting to get one as well. I was looking at smores back and he has a scab as well as many little red dot irritation marks, his skin is also red on his back. Behind his ears he has little black dots and i know this is NOT normal. My mom never wants to take him to the doctors and i live in victorville california, i can tell its progressively getting worse and worse every week, he officially almost has no hair on the little v spot. I havent checked cinnamon but please tell me whats going on if anyone has any clue i looked it up and it says mites but i need more actual opinions if anyone can give me their gmail i will send them photos if my guinea pigs back cause idk why this app is asking for a url and I'm not sure how to make one but please. Anybody help me.

We are not vets and so there isn’t anybody in here who can tell you for definite - we cannot legally make a diagnosis. You must take your piggies to a vet for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

What we can say is that with the v shape, hair loss and the red spots it does indeed sound like your piggies have mange mites (not hay mites).
This is something that must be treated properly by a vet with the correct strength course of treatment and it must be done promptly.
Mange mites can become a very serious issue as they burrow into the skin and cause extreme irritation. It can be fatal if left untreated.

If things have already being going on for a few weeks then they need to see a vet ideally today.
