I need some veg ideas. Mr Fuzzy trousers came to us as a rescue not really knowing about veg (or fruit) he clearly had never ever seen a lettuce leaf! He is fussy about what he will eat and I need some ideas.

He needs nothing gassy and low calcium as he produces stones.

At present he eats
Grass - as often as he asks for it I will go out and get some.
baby salad leaves (no iceberg no spinach) - on and off - one day he will eat the next he won't
rocket (occasionally)
spinach (very occasionally - and he has gone off it)
carrot (occasionally - he likes these)
Watermelon (occasionally - sugar)
apple - possibly once a month and he will pick at it.
baby sweetcorn - couple of times a week - bit hit and miss as to whether he likes it.
cucumber (has become our daily staple as it is all he reliably eats - but I kind of feel it is just full of nothing)
Pea shoots - occasionally
lambs lettuce (used to like - won't eat now)
Mage tout
French beans occasionally (he is a bit 'meh' about them).

He won't eat
Romany lettuce/Little gem lettuce
Peppers
Tomatoes
pumpkin/squash
sweet potato
any other fruit

He can't eat broccoli/cabbage/

Any bright ideas about things I could try him with? Is it worth foraging for him?

Apart from all the veg you’ve mentioned - aren’t our piggies spoiled! Mine get dandelions, chickweed, plantain, clover, birch and hawthorn leaves! Of course, some eat heartily of these and others just pick at them! I’m also wishing someone would invent new veggies! It is difficult when trying to modify their diet too to ensure low calcium.

Thank you, I have just found the food list, short of foraging I have tried Mr Fussy with most of the things on it. The one thing I didn't realise was that honeydew melon was not subject to the usual fruit restriction. He has had the occasional bit of that! I may have to circle around the list again and see if his tastes have changed.

Tried Coriander?

Yes - he hates it, he nibbled some parsley today but again calcium and he wasn't keen. He used to love basil but that is Meh, the rest of the edible bits of the herb selection at watirose (they have locally grown herbs in huge bags) has been deemed 'Meh'. I suspect he wants me to forage for him like the wild bear he is.......(in his little mind)..... If he could send me out every half hour for fresh grass he would be happy.....

baby corn is the way forward, sparingly because it's a bit sugary but it's my guinea pigs favourite thing and kale always for a win too.

He is refusing to eat baby corn at the moment and he can't have kale - he likes the really expensive black kale from Waitrose.........

Perhaps try a diet, ? If he's hungry enough you may be able to encourage him to eat different things

My sisters rabbits are the same, will only eat veg from certain places haha

Have you tried Hazel leaves? My 5 go bonkers for them! They come running if I have them! I have a little copse about 10 mins away and I make a special trip there for Hazel leaves.

I may try that, I'm sure there is a hazel tree near us. I was also wondering about plum tree leaves and apricot tree leaves (I need to look them up) as we have loads of those (the pear and apple are past it now but the cherry, plum and apricot and grape vine are ok - the cats pee on the strawberries - no we don't eat them I gave up but never dug them up - so that's a no).

I have a plum tree in my garden and although I rake the leaves up as much as possible the piggies still manage to get the odd one or two that fall down the little tinkers!

I am beyond confused because I have found a link that says plum is fine - but I'm not going to risk it. I have a big bay tree and I spend my time removing bay leaves from the run - but if one by chance drops into the run its a race to see who gets there first me or him!

I have a small bay tree in a pot so I don't have that problem thankfully.
