does anyone only feed veg once a day?

chesney is fast asleep all morning and i have woken him up to offer him veg and he was not impressed and didn't want it!

i make buns veg at 5pm and ches wanted his then and wheeked like mad so he now has it at 5pm, but when am i supposed to give the other helping now? because he sleeps all morning! lol... and he goes back in his cage quite late but then he wants to sleep again!

the only time is before he goes back in his cage but then that's only about 7 hours between each time. is this too short a gap? i thought 5pm and 12 midnight.

would this be ok do you think?

Seven hours apart shouldn't be too much if he's got plenty of hay, crunchies and water.

If you feel bad about it, you could always leave him a snack in his cage for overnight, in case he wakes up and is peckish.

i was thinking 7 hours apart was too short a gap. ideally i would have preferred veg maybe morning and evening, maybe 9 hours apart. but i'll try 5pm and 12 midnight and see how he gets on.

he does have hay and pellets available the rest of the time and he is a good hay eater so he should be fine so i'll try that and see how he gets on. :)

To be honest I only feed my piggies veg once a day now, which will contain 3 different vegs, then they have their dried food available with plenty of hay throughout the day. I always give them a slice of cucumber though when I gets home from work and then gives them fresh hay and change their dry food so I know they have plenty to eat all through the day and night. Sometimes I think they eat better than me!

Mine get veg first thing at 7.15 am, then dried food as the sun goes down and finally more veg at about 9pm. They have a different idea about when they should have their dried food and will start wheeking for it hopefully when the sun is still up...but if the sun really does go down before they get it (if I'm home late) then they get really demanding and stroppy because they have learnt when the food is served in this restaurant!

I am considering changing veg to once a day as they never finish it anymore think as they are getting a bit older 4/5 months they must not need as much. The only problem is that they shout for it twice a day now and would be difficult not to. I feed around 8am and 6pm as I work. Think may cut down as give them three things morning and evening may cut down to 1/2 per meal!

i think he would be better just maybe having veg at 5pm like buns. but do i give the amount that i have been over 2 servings, or just one serving at 5pm?

how much veg is he supposed to be having? i just give a few pieces of each and he eats most of it and then has a little break and eats the last piece or 2. think 2 lots might be too much for him anyway.

i'm sure i'll work it out. :)

I feed my bunnies and piggies once a day with fresh veg and fruit but they have unlimited hay and dried food and water available to them all day.
Sometimes they get a little handful of grass or a fruit treat before bed time.

You will work out what your piggy will love to eat and when and also the amounts.

I feed mine with hay and dry food at about 7am and then veg and hay at about 5 (change water then too), and then I go in to check at about 9 and top up their hay.

I feed mine veg once a day about 5pm and they have unlimited dry food.

Mine only get veg once a day - they get it just before I start making my dinner so usually about 6pm. They have unlimited hay and dry pellets.
If I have lettuce in, then they sometimes get some of that in the morning.

alot of people feed once a day then!

i think i will aswell, same time as bunnies, 5pm. i love 5pm because buns start running round like loons and ches is in his run and gets excited and runs and hops round too! soooo cute! x)

although every time i go in the kitchen and open the fridge i get wheeked at! and when i come out the kitchen the buns are always sat there waiting for more food! lol... they would all eat non stop if we let them!

i give ches unlimited hay and pellets. he doesn't eat loads of pellets though, he prefers his hay and veg, which is good because he mainly eats hay all day and then has his veg at 5pm.

he has fresh water aswell of course every day!
