Is it just me being too fussy, just my area (Kent) or what, but the veg we've had recently has been absolute tosh. It's either infested with eggs or something, goes off within a day of purchase, or just generally sub standard? Yesterday I threw away a whole cabbage as it had eggs on almost every leaf and today a whole pot of tomatoes that looked like I has stuck wire wool in with it, the mould was that bad - they were one day past their sell by date. Today I also noticed that the greens we brought on Monday have wilted and got scaly marks all over the leaves, and I've given up buying coriander at the moment as it's rotting well before the sell by dates. We've used different supermarkets and everything and I'm getting pretty fed up of the piggies having the bits left over as the majority of the veg is going into the compost bin!

Is anyone else having this problem? As you can probably tell, I'm getting verrrrrry annoyed!

Ahhhhhhh... whinge over.

yeah the veg ive been getting has been going off after a day or 2 :(

but asda have cucumber and peppers on offer 50p ;)

yeah there veg has seemed fine to me, but with it being bank hol weekend iv had to go spar and their veg is rubbish and so expensive >:(

I have been finding this for a while with supermarket veg, exception is lidl where it is lovely and fresh! Failing that, I try to go to the fruit and veg market or David goes to a polish shop a fair drive away ::)

I'm not saying this because I work in a greengrocers but all vegetables and herbs from those sort of places are checked and made sure they are fresh (I know because I check them).

my local lidl veg is absolute garbage. i often buy odd bits from there but have stopped, as it was all off when i went in the other day.

i get all my veg from asds, or occasionally sainsburys (yay for staff discount!) and both last really well

Lidl is awful, I did go there in the autumn but found it wasn't lasting very long at all. Aldi is ok but you can't get many greens from there and on Christmas Eve it was buy one get one free on all veg which was great!

I get mine from Tesco, it may cost a few pennies more but it lasts and we don't have a local green grocer here, our local newsagent sells the odd lettuce but even in the local precinct there is no green grocer only Iceland and they don't sell a lot. :-\

there are veg stalls on the market in town, but their veg doesnt last long either and i found it was actually more expensive!

although sainsburys is exxpensive, their veg is good, it lasts well, and i get discount.

this week is 20% discount for staff so ill be making the most of it later tonight, and will go do a big shop

I have just been the victim to some bad celery. It was only 68p a bunch from Tesco though.

My veg has been ok and its mainly from Tesco, occassionaly the local greengrocers O0
