Hi I've got a bladder piggy who is currently on nutracys capsules (similar to cystease etc). I'm after a vegan tablet form which is readily available through health shops. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

So I've no idea. I use it for Rosie's inflamed bladder. Might be worth discussing it with your vet, though if they're anything like mine they tend to be a bit sceptical about 'natural' remedies

I've just bought the oxbow joint tablets which have glucosamine in them. I know glucosamine is good for joints as my hubby takes them to help his knees as he runs and cycles. How do u know how much to give them tho when you buy it in human tablets? X

My tablets are 500mg I think so my partner mixes them in water and then works out the mls needed for each dose. Amy is on 250mg but we worked up to that dose. I think they can be used for arthritis, a friend used to use them I believe.

How do you know what dose to give them? In the oxbow joint tabs there is 90mg, so would I just mix a 500mg tablet with say 5mls of water and then give roughly 1/5th of it? What's the maximum they can take daily? Do you know if it affects their liver? x

I am not sure about their liver. I was advised to work up to 250mg by someone that used to run a guinea pig clinic at a vets. This was specifically for vegan glucosamine though. Most Cystease tablets etc are 125mg and I think Amy was on that dose for a while. I am no longer in touch with the person that told me the dose so I can't check. Run it past your vet and see what dose they would be happy with.

I will check with my partner on the mixing as he mixes ours and I get myself a bit confused with ratios. Will post again tonight after dinner.

Thank you so much, and thanks for your help x

He says for a 90mg dose based on a 500mg tablet and 5ml of water you would need to give 0.9ml of the mix.

Hi, sorry I have another question about the glucosamine and hope you can help. After I mix the tablet and give him what he needs can I keep the rest to use again or does it need binned? If I can keep it how long for? And where do you store it? Thank you x
