Those of you that keep several pigs, do you buy your vegetables in bulk and if so where do buy from? I am hoping to keep some more piggies once we have emptied the shed and set it up so that it is suitable to house piggies. At the moment I buy veggies from the supermarket as and when I need to but wondered whether buying in bulk each week would be better and possibly cheaper in the long run.

Thanks.

it just depends how much of it you use in a week and how much you'd be prepared to waste - i went through a phase of buying a 15kg net of "pony carrots" (just dirty carrots, really) from the market in selby
even when i had 26 guineas though, they were always going off by the time i got half way down it.

at £2 a bag though, they were a good deal, but i went back to getting them from the supermarket a kilo at a time as i could bear to waste them on a bi-weekly basis.

I have four pigs and buy their veggies from Aldi as it is relatively cheap. I spend between £5 to £10 but my gerbil, hamster and degu have bits of that too :)

I have four piggies, and buy all of their veggies in Lidl and usually spend £8 - £10 a week.

I know some people are in contact with local farm shops and green grocers and they get all left over stuff for free, also shopping in supermarkets late at night and getting all of the reduces stuff!

We too get our veggies from Aldi, Our boys get the stocks and we get the rest. If you open our fridge you would think we had a very healthy diet, but not really, the boys eat most of it. Although we do grow our own herbs and lettuce. drool

Sounds like my fridge :)) Aldi have had a few offers recently where certain veggies have been 39p
