Our little piggies are about 6 months old and seem to be really fussy about what vegetables they like. Apart from lettuce, carrots and spinach they turn their cute little noses up at most vegetables. I wondered if anyone could tell me which veggies their piggies find delicious. They are also fed pellets, but I would hate them to have a boring diet.

Many Thanks

Linda

Hi And welcome

Carrots contain a lot of Vitamin A so should only be given occasionally, Iceburg lettcue shouldn't be given, spinach also should be given occasionally.

Other things to try: celery, cucumber, cherry toms - occassionally, bell peppers - de seeded, broccoli and the stalk, cabbage, kurly kale, spring greens, sprouts, caulifour - esp the leaves, fresh grass and dandelions.

fruits such as grapes, strawberries, blueberries, banana, apple, orange, melon can be given a couple of times a week as a treat.

Do they get unlimited supply of hay?

In my experience, piggies are very good at wrapping their slaves around their little toe to get what they want rolleyes

Offer them a variety, don't be too quick to remove it if they don't eat it - they will eat their favourites first, then eat the other things after. If you persist, you'll often find that they begin to like it :)

Thank you so much for your advice. They have definitely got me wrapped around their little paws!

We give them a good couple of handfulls of hay each day. They love iceberg lettuce! won't do that again. I guess I'm off to the supermarket later.

Could I just ask you all something else? I there a difference between normal hay and eating hay?

mine go crazy for coriander and sprouts! They also like Parsley and Broccoli but cant have them too often. Apples and melon go down well too.

Keep trying them on different things and you'll find something they love
