Dilly's Piggies
Teenage Guinea Pig
My girl Harriet has been through the wars in the past 2 months, it all began when she got a piece of hay stuck in her ear. Nobody could get it out and it was causing tremendous pain for her, so we had to sedate her and try to remove it, but the vet didn't have tools small enough. Shortly after this she got an ear infection from all the poking and prodding.
Today Harriet was sedated again so the vet could clean the wax build up and get a good look inside her ear without causing her pain, weirdly he said that he couldn't see her eardrum at all, so now we're dealing with a perforated ear drum.
The last time Harriet had this she recovered amazingly well, she came home bright, eating, you couldn't even tell she had anything done. But today she looks very unwell, she's lethargic and wobbly, head to the side too as I imagine her ear hurts, we've given her pain meds. She did tuck in to her food the moment she realised she was back home, she ate some hay, veggies, took her pain meds and also her vitamin C supplement and probiotic just fine, she was a little slow and drowsy but she still took everything willingly.
However now she is in her hidey house and isn't moving, she looks very puffed up and ill. I just need to know if this is normal? Her sedation was just a whiff of gas and not a full GA both times but it seems to have affected her badly this time. I am glad she ate when she got home but now she's just hunched up in the house.
