Ive just been up with the piggies and while i was holding one of the girls my mom noticed that there was dry skin on her leg. When i had alook it looks really bad. Its just like flakey skin on the bottom on her leg. What could this be? and what should i use to treat it? i thought maybe fungal but i dont know what I'm looking for. the rest of her is fine and so are the babies that are in with her.
any advice?
thanks

I have read that if the hair is loose with flakes of skin coming away on the hair shaft then it is fungal. Flaky skin can be stress related - my Carmilla gets stressed and then goes flaky along her back although the hair doesn't come out like that and I treat that with Nizoral shampoo just on the area itself.

Ordinary dry skin will respond well to moisturisers - if you haven't any of those which are safe to eat as the piggies will lick the skin then use ordinary oil just on the unhappy bit as that won't hurt if eaten. Moisturiser is only oil and water mixed really hard together anyhow.

I can't help any further, I'm afraid I have no idea if you can use Nizoral on a mummy piggie. Somebody else will hopefully give better advice.

One of my piggies suffers from flaky skin. Several trips to the vets where my piggie got jabs and lotion proved unsuccessful. I then tried Nizoral shampoo as per Peter Gurneys health pages and the symptoms started to clear within a couple of days. My piggy might not have had the same skin condition as yours but Nizoral defifo worked on her.

Any chemist, it should be on the shelf (not behind the counter). It is in a pink and white bottle, for human "dandruff" conditions. It may be worth shampooing all of her, but if it really is only this little patch on her leg, you may be able to just treat that area. I believe Gorgeous Guineas Lavender and Myrrh lotion is good to apply topically on fungal patches.
