very Long hair help.....

My Pig-Pog has very long hair and it gets wet around her bum only but how do I cut her hair, she will not lay on her back and I need to cut underneath her. She is fine when I trim her side hair.
Also Brian has long hair and his hair keeps getting traped in his willy, I need to cut his hair to so it is not pulled up inside but he to will kick out and I do not want to cut his little man off.
So how is it best to action this hair cutting mission...
 
I lay Huxley on the palm of my hand his head resting up my arm & hold him against my body with bum facing outward - this is how i trim his bottom but he's a calm boy. Get someone else to hold Pig-Pog with her bottom towards you

As for Brian will he sit still for you to do it? If not, get someone to hold him upright against their body, paws out the way, which will enable you to see his front :)
 
I have no problem doing Pig-Pogs normal hair cut, for which she will sit still, she has nice layered hair, I trained as a barber when I lived in Italy.
It is more under her behind her bum, where I have trouble getting to, I will ask Kyle to help me tomorrow using your suggestion for holding her, the same goes for Brian.

I know I was thinking about having him neutred but an accidental slip snip is not what I want to do xx0
 
I remember reading one of Peter Gurneys books and he was trimming a long hair to go on Blue Peter and he accidently nipped his 'manbits'.
My advice is the same as Niki, put the pigs bum in the palm of you hand, man bits and all and let the skirt flow over the edge, its a shame I don't have a longhair to show you.

My last longhair, I shaved his bum with the OH hair clippers. I made a very neat triangle, it went from hind leg to hind leg and a bit highter above the grease gland. He was terrible at getting knots in his coat, I left the top layer of his hair on so it would cover the shaven area. I know a couple of my friends who breed longhairs do shave them off during the summer due to being hot, espcially the curly coated like Texel, Alpaca, Merino.

I've got long-hairs and I recommend round-ended scissors, just in case!

It depends how wriggly the pig is, some of mine let me turn them over and just sit still while I cut, others scream blue murder and I wonder what the neighbours must think! Two pairs of hands needed with the wrigglers, I think

having a second person to help is handy. i get the bf to hold merlin while i trim.
 
I have a pair of scissors from my hubbys first aid kit (he had a fit when he found out ;D ) they have a bend in them and I find them so easy to use I do as most people say hold them in my palm etc and work around the bottom tilly and basil hate it but they are told it has to be done ::) ::) ;D
 
When I trim my long haired piggies, I always get David to hold them while I do the trimming! Much easier :) I trim after they have had a bath too as I find it easier when their hair is damp. I have a pair of hair cutting scissors which I bought from Superdrug for about £7 and they are great :D
 
I have previously used hair clippers on my shelties and my texel.
I just shaved it short not bald O0
 
I used the scissors out of OH clipper kit or my dog grooming scissors, mainly the thinning scissors. I don't have any one to have a go on now, so I have to wait until I am at work and on my grooming training, hehe!

yeah use round ended scissors just in case, thats what i do. bertie screams the house down ::) but we get there in the end. another person would be handy to hold him/her still O0
