I have got a very poorly little guineapig sat here with me. She is very bloated (in the past half hour, maybe more this has come and gone numerous times) she isnt touching any food and wont really take in any liquids. she isnt moving very much at all and just generally isnt herself. She has pood maybe 4 or 5 times in the last hour and a half since i discovered her in this state. She just seems very uncomfortable when you touch her stomach area although i've been gently massaging every so often. Ive also got her lying on a hot water bottle with a couple of layers of towel over the top. Please help!

Bloat is serious and can be life threatening - I think you need to make an emergrncy appointment and take your pig to the vets tonight. Failing that, massage regulalry, put her on a vibrating massage pad if you have one, or take her for a drive in the car. I really do think a vet appointment asap is needed though.

I'm going to take her to the vets first thing as there isn't an emergency vet near where I live. I'll try the vibrating thing. I need to try and get more fluid into her though otherwise she is just going to dehydrate

Sorry to hear your first posts on hear have been about a sick piggie :(
WHee will have all paws crossed for your little one...... please keep us updated.

GOOD LUCK LITTLE ONE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Thankyou...
I think she's also just been a bit sick...
It's going to be a long night I think!

Any ideas what I could use to give her fluids? I haven't got any syringes...

Piggies don't vomit love ......
Maybe it's a little bit of food?
Keep up the great work, do the massage and the heat. If you have baby colic drops you can use those too, i'm pretty sure it's 0.3ml (i'll go and check i haven't got my file at work darn it) And keep offering little amounts of water and some mushed up pellets too.

I should add...... home treating is not recommended unless you're sure what the problem is..... i just would hate to give you the wrong info

its a dark coloured fluid. I dont have colic drops either. not much i can do. Do I mush up the pellets with a bit of water?

It could be from her eating her pellets?

Yes add some water and make them a little mushy...... to make it easier.

Could you phone the emergency vets and ask for help......explain you need help now.

I'll just keep trying the pellets and water, she's just pood about 4 times which is more than what she has been doing and I think she may be passing wind as theres a funny smell every so often, and I can assure you it isn't me! Thankyou for your advice

Oh that's good!!

Silly me forgot to welcome you guys!
Welcome to the forum :)
Perhaps when you have time and things have settled down (all paws crossed) you could pop on a pigture of your little one (sorry don't know her name) :)
My girls send some healing wheeeeeeeks too xoxoxoxoxoxo

Glynis, Velvet and Onyx x

I'm very sorry to say it didn't work. Bella, took a very quick turn for the worse and she's quickly slipping away... :( Thankyou for the advice. I've brought her sister down to be with her

this is terrible so i *** have any advice :( i am so sorry hope * are okay and the pig isnt to much in pain

Oh no... All I can say is I'm so sorry. I didn't expect this as I was reading through. I was really hoping things would turn out OK.

If your guinea pig is still alive, please please take it to a vets now. Most vets have an emergency service - try others in your area if yours really doesn't offer this

Bella has gone to the little piggy hutch in the sky. It all happened so fast. But she has had a good run of 3 years considering she has been ill with different things through her little life. Just hope her sis doesn't pine too much after her x

WHee are so sorry love 8...8...8...
RIP Bella run free at the bridge, enjoy nibbling on sweet grass and dandelions and popcorning thru the lush green meadows, you'll be so very sadly missed by your devastated family and little friend but NEVER ever forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and lots of loves from Glynis, Velvet and Onyx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Another little star now twinkling in the sky ............ :(

I hope that you decide to stay around on the forum, whee can all help you thru your sad time as whee all understand. Also please give your remaining piggie some loves from us all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Thankyou so much for advice and kindness! Bella will be missed by us and by Bubbles! Bubbles has already picked up on Bella not being there, I have just changed her to fresh sawdust and hay etc and given the hutch a clean. All the while, Bubbles running around the room looking for her little sis x

If you have a cuddly stuffed toy that you can make sure there's nothing Bubbles can nibble on (as in eyes etc.. as you know they love to nibble!) pop this in with Bubbles it might help her to have a snuggle companion :)

If you could give your location we can hopefully recommend a cavy savvy vet that you may not be aware of - it would be a great shame if your remaining pig became ill and you were in this position again.

So sorry to hear about this hope her little sister is ok, like someone else said a little teddy would help her as she can snuggle up to it and she will find comfort with it.

Very sad to read this thread. R.i.p Bella. x
