Tansy developed a crackle yesterday afternoon and stopped eating too. Been syringe feeding with C&C but I now feel she's also got a gut problem. Giving her a look over this morning and when I gently pressed around her tum her mouth opened and she made a gasping noise. She's such a big placid girl but obviously not wanting me touching her today. Took her syringe feed with a struggle. Put her back next to her sister and left them snuggling in. Just lost her other sister Willow a few weeks back too.
Vets appointment this morning so I'll post again afterwards.

Fingers very firmly crossed! you are doing the right thing.

Vet concerned could be pneumonia and if doesn't settle in a day or two to have an X-ray. Mind you, she was very feisty at the Vets - chewing the scope and letting her presence be known! Vickie the Vet and I very pleased with her liveliness!
Very thoroughly checked over by Vicki particularly her mammary area too as explained crackle on the lungs can sometimes be secondary to a tumour there.
Anyway, Madam Tansy came home with her antibiotics, Loxicom and more Fibreplex after having subcut fluids too and Metoclopramide etc.
Pood in her carrier, toddled in to her nest and started to eat!

Great that she is feisty still. She may need diuretics too if there is no improvement with the crackle.

Sending her lots of healing vibes! Keep a close on her, second what Helen says above.

Vet says her heart is strong and working well so no mention of diuretics so far. Will depend on X-ray results.
She's had a walk around this afternoon too and more nibbling at hay and even a little lettuce! Sounds odd maybe, saying she had a walk around but she's a very inactive piggy! A bit like my Lurcher dog! Why walk when you can lie in bed!

The diuretics would be for fluid which could be caused by the Pneumonia, not necessarily her heart.

Your animals may well be related to me...

I’m so pleased you spotted the signs and got her to the vet quickly. All healing vibes to Tansy x

Sounds a bit better today - can still hear it but much less. To phone the Vet again tomorrow to update her. If I get the Vet on the phone I will mention duiretics or suggest them if still crackling before her xray.
Now has olbas oil on her hot water bottle so place smells very strange!
Shes eating much better again today too! and looking quite perky!

Vets for the X-ray this morning. When I first listened to her breathing this morning all was quiet then I heard a slight crackle again so phoned for Appt asap. Here’s hoping they’ll say nothing sinister to be seen.

Nothing sinister in lungs or stomach! Slight grey area in lungs due to pneumonia as Vet first diagnosed. Just to continue stronger course of antibiotics until next Monday then take her back for a check up.
Clever Tansy stayed more or less still for her X-rays! So glad to get her home and tucked into her wee bed again!
