Hi guys. Just got up and checked on the piggies to find loads of soft, watery pops really tapered at end. Poops were fine last night when I went to bed. The only thing that's changed is that I rinsed their veg in water last so it would have been more watery than usual.

I have separated the girls to see who they are coming from and I'm sure it's maple. I heard her squeaking a bit when she lifted her bum to poop.

Mum fed them their veg this morning and she was eagerly waiting for it and she is now tucking in to hay.

What should I do?

Sorry for this unpleasant pic...

Please take her off fresh food for a couple of days and see whether the poos firm up again. Put some brown cardboard or a toilet roll or kitchen paper inners (or anything with rough fibre) into the cage to help rebalance the guts. if you have got some probiotic at home, syringe her a pinch that you have dissolved in 1ml of water twice daily. Weigh her daily at the same time.

If things don't improve or she is getting worse, please see a vet. As things stand, it doesn't look too drastic, so I wouldn't panic yet.

Thanks for the reply. I have just given her the probiotic like you suggested. And I have put in some toilet roll tubes. The poos seem to be firming up slightly and the tails on them are not as long. she is still squeaking when passing the poos though.

Have seen your posts on Facebook and that you have been given the same advice. Hope she is feeling better soon.

It is going to take a day or two for the tummy to settle down and all the impacted poos to pass through, so don't be impatient! The measures that we have recommended are just supportive ones that help the tummy to sort itself out. If that doesn't work, then it is time for you to see a vet.

Yes I will definately be taking her to the vet if she deteriorates or if she is no better by tomorrow.

This looks exactly like cocos poo did for ages! I started giving her toilet roll tubes, changed her hay because i realised she didnt like it and the most important thing that makes a massive difference, I stopped giving her mixed bagged salad, I dont know why it just seems to be the mixed bagged salad that causes it so bad, but I tried her with it again after stopping giving her it and it happened straight away. Oh and fibreplex is amazing for it! :)

Just a little update. Maple has been tucking into hay and pellets well today. Drinking well too. Her poos are nowhere near as bad now and I have not heard any squeaking. I took Daisy out of the cage to give her veg out of Maple's sight but I felt so sorry for Maple because when I went back to the cage she was sitting waiting for me expecting veg and whistling away. She rarely whistles but she has been whistling at any smell of veg or paper bag rustling today, poor girl must be missing her veg! I gave her another 1ml of water and Avipro plus tonight :)

Awww that's great, lol, poor wee baby! try tricking her by topping up her hay or pellets when she wheeks lol, if she's silly enough she might fall for it ;)

haha, it might not work though, when i took cokes off her veg she would scream her nut off all night, so i topped up her hay and she came scurrying over to it but as soon as I turned to run away from her and hide out if view she was back hanging onto the bars screaming louder as if to say "GET BACK HERE, FOOLISH HUMAN! i WILL NOT BE TAKEN IN BY YOUR CHILDISH PLOYS TO DENY MEEEEEE!

That is great news! Hopefully she is back to normal by tomorrow evening. No piggy likes to be taken off their veg... :(

Well they both just came running over to me when I went through so I filled a tissue box with orchard grass hay, something different from their usual hay and they are both nomming away :)

should I carry on giving the Avipro tomorrow too? I am not going to give her any veg in the morning obviously as poos are still a bit soft.

I would continue with the avipro and continue with staying off veg/feeding more fibre until the poos have been firm for at least 24 hours. Is she still squeaking when pooing?

Ok I will definately do that. I have not heard any squeaking from her, nothing like this morning.

Was just about to give the girls their veg this morning when I noticed 3 or 4 very soft poops in the cage :( I am assuming they are Maple's again. I have been slowly increasing her veg since last time and being giving her more coriander rather than the mixed lettuce leaves. I have been hand feeding her the coriander so I know how much she is getting. Could it be the coriander that has given her an upset tummy? I haven't given her any veg this morning and will give her some probiotic. She is well within herself, up begging for food, makes me feel so guilty!

It doesn't take much to upset a piggy with a delicate tummy. Take her off veg again until things have settled down again and up the fibre.

I am in the same place with my elderly girl Ffraid, so I know how frustrating it is!
