Ok so this is Gizmo (Past away a month ago)

She became this size 6 months prior to passing away. She had no pain, and ate and drank normally. However, dispite the picture, she basically became a bag of bones, (we always took her to the vet for checks) The vet also told us she was not overweight. We knew she was very old (8 years) and she was on borrowed time. She ended up just fading away of old age, it always puzzled us why she ballooned like this. Any ideas?

My gut instinct says ovarian cysts given the size and shape she became. Whatever it was she certainly lived to a wonderful age, what a grand old lady.

One of my old pigs had that shape but I was quite young so I can't remember whether the diagnosis was ovarian cysts or something to do with her kidneys. She was about 4 years old when she died and spent the last 6 months of her life on steroids. Ironically she died the morning of the day we were meant to take her to the vets for another course of treatment.

Ovarian cysts. My Millie was the same shape. She became poorly very quickly! :(

I too would have to say Ovarian cysts, poor lady! what a great age she lived till! at least she had a lovely home and an owner who spoilt her rotten! she was gorgeous!x)

I can only say same as the others, ovarian cysts. There is non surgical treatment for them, but obviously this can only be done if the vet diagnoses the problem first!
