Firstly, I must say that Ruby will be going to the vets tomorrow, but in the mean time I was wondering if anyone can answer me in regards to guinea pigs "barbering"?
I have previously kept rats, and one of my 3 boys was a "barber" which meant he would over groom himself every now and again and nibble his hair down to a "shaved" effect. He would occasionally barber his 2 other companions whilst they were grooming, often around the ears and hind legs.

I have come home from work today, gone straight up to feed my two guinea there veggies and have found 2 year old Ruby to have two alomost bald patches on her back. It's completely bald in parts, but in other the hair looks trimmed, like it's been cut off.
The skin underneath shows no signs of dryness or any irritation. She had a fungal infection on her ear last spring, and her whole ear went white and flakey. but this skin is just smooth and dry.
She wasnt like this yesterday, as I spend time each day with my pigs so I'd have known!

They're housed in a large indoor run (18 sqaure feet) with a hay box, various houses etc and I've not changed their bedding or anything.

Any ideas would be great.
Thanks.
