Hi, Gertie is usually quite talkative but tonight she has not really stopped. Could this be a sign something is wrong? it's lots of little squeaks and her usual wheaking that she does when we open the fridge.

She has been exploring the whole flat too though she was chatting before she discovered the other rooms.

Could she be on heat?

She may just be finding her voice, expressing herself a bit more; it does sound likely to be tied in with her adventures. Sows in oestrus can also be more vocal and hormonal than normal.

I have a very vocal pig, though he's quietening down as he gets older. Whenever he's let out for floor time you can pinpoint his exact location because he doesn't stop muttering. He tends to mutter away for a bit with all manner of squeaks, throws in a regular rumble as well...it's an interesting mix. Funnily enough, he won't wheek loudly though. He mutters to himself a lot, but looks rather stunned on the rare occasion he lets out a hearty wheek. :))

Thanks Laura, that's good to know then. I think she has got more confident over the last week really as she has virtual run of the living room, it was like she was muttering to herself and then whenever we so much as looked at the kitchen she started to shout. She was out when I got up this morning and started chatting as soon as she saw me as she ran laps round the room.

Will prepare for more chattiness tomorrow then as we are taking her to Hillsbrooke rescue to see if she wants to choose a friend. She has the choice of either a castrated boar called Johnny or a sow called Jessica.

Ha ha your piggie sounds really amusing :)
