Hi all, Mousey who was the matriarch and Reds best friend passed away a couple months ago and both Boots and Red have been quite depressed since. So we were looking for a young female or two to bond with them, well yesterday the pet shop told us they had one girl. They said she was 6 weeks but she really looks like 3 or 4 to me. She weighs 200g. So tiny.

The initial bonding seemed to go smooth enough..Now i would say they are "tolerating" her 😅. They bop her when they get annoyed by her and ignore her sometimes, but they have been cuddled up near each other to sleep. The main thing is she keeps wheeking like every few minutes..she probably misses her mom and siblings. Does anyone have experience with these kind of situations and a baby so young? I'm quite stressed by it.

I had two young boars last year (4 weeks). They were very scared and whimpered the first night, they settled when I'd found them an uncle boar amongst my singles. The poor older boar did find them a bit much at times I think as they were very clingy with him at first but I think in the end he enjoyed their company until they turned into hormone ravaged teenagers. Of course it's different with sows in that they should be okay together as the little one grows up, unlike trios of boars that very rarely work.
Your youngster will settle once she finds her feet it sounds like she is calling to your other girls, it's how they keep in touch when moving around and is normal. It sounds like your girls have accepted the baby. Enjoy having a little one in your life, they grow up so quickly!

Thanks for the reassurance! They are adorable. I hope they do keep accepting her. She hasnt eaten any veggies yet i assume because its so new to her but she does love some grass and pellets.

I was warned to be very careful with veg particularly anything in the brassica family and grass. Introduce it in tiny amounts slowly as their digestive system is very tender at this age. It's probably good that she is being slow to accept veggies. Your older girls will teach her that veggies are nice to eat. The main thing she must eat is hay.

We've had her for 6 days now and just weighed her again, she hasnt gained any weight since i weighed her the first day. Is this normal? She eats just fine.

As long as she isn't losing weight, then she should be OK and will likely catch up with a sudden big jump at some point once she has found her feet.
