Vet bed in outdoor hutches

Does anybody use vet bed in outdoor hutches?

My guineas are currently on hay and newspaper, but i don't find it that good.

They have fleece sleeping bags that my mum made which i stuff with hay and put in when it gets really cold. And i put covers on the inside of the mesh to stop draughts at night.

I just wonder how good it is, and whether they would be ok on it outside. Also is fleece any good to use as a bedding?
 
I used vet bed to line the sleeping quarters and also put in fleece blankets for them to get under and it was fine, I cleaned it out every day as they poo and wee for england!
They are indoors now still with vet bed and fleece, it's so much nicer for their little feet. They are in the kitchen which they love, they can see into the fridge when I open the door :)
 
What did you use in the living bit? I would love to have them indoors, but can't thanks to a small crazy terrier that will attack anything that even smells of piggies!
 
I lined the run with 2 fleece blankets and of which I had 4 so I could wash them everyday and put clean in. They hardly ever weed or pooed in the run apart from under the hayrack so they come clean.
I must admit though I'm about to order enough new vetbed to do the run aswell cos it is fab stuff.
 
I'm going to put hay in their sleeping bags aswell if i decide to change to this bedding because the boys love to burrow. I just don't want them to not like it as it doesn't seem very natural.
 
i have used vet beds in my outside hutches(garage) for about 3 years now. i would never use anything else. i also put human size sleeping bags over the hutches and runs every night and when i see them in the morning they are so warm even when its minus outside.

Also reckon if you have a jumper thats either to small or you are throwing away or to charity cut it up they make great blankets especially the fleece ones.
 
I have tried vet bed. My piggies loved it but I didn't when it came to the washing of it. :(

It was heavy and thick and my husband would have killed me if I put it in the washing machine and then the washing machine went wrong! Plus he is allergic to hay and pet fur.

So vet bed wasn't for me, although I know lots of members on here love it.

My piggies are out side, well not outside but in the shed, anyway I used newspaper then wood flakes, then hay and finally fleece. I find they stuff the fleece in the hole to their sleeping quarters but when it gets really cold they have their snuggle heat pad. I have also put 3 layers of old fleecy sheets over their hutch and last week added an old quilt, topped off with clear plastic. My hubby says they are warmer than we are, but don't like to think of them getting cold. Go out each night to cover them up and feel their ears which are always warm so think I'm doing the right thing.
The fleece can be a bit of a devil to wash so hang it up on the line before I put in the washing machine to get as much hay off as possible. Just found an old fleece of hubby's which I'm thinking of cutting up and using just waiting for the right time so he doesn't notice !:)p
