took the guinea girls (had that confirmed) to the vet today. check up, nail trim and lulu has been itching alot.

Lollie is perfectly healthy

Lulu has a yeast infection in her ears and possibly ear mites. both are being treated for the mites. vet also said it looks like shes getting over a mild case of bumblefoot. since weve only had them about a month she said lulu probably had both when we got her but the ears got worse and the foot got better with better conditions. so she gets drops in her ears twice a day for 2 weeks.

she suggested fleece lining so I'm going to get working on that..

Unfortunately not all will take good care of guinea pigs. You’ve caught it so hopefully it’ll be onwards from now 😊

I hope Lulu makes a good recovery

A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding

thank you. i found some microfiber dog towels at the store that arent very expensive. theyre 40x24 (cage is 47x24) i thought i would do a layer of fleece, layer of dog towel, layer of fleece. i cant really afford premade right now

I’m not sure how well microfibre towels will work as an underlayer. You will have to try it and see. You need something absorbent as an underlayer that will lock the dampness away more such as puppy pads or a mattress protector and then you put the fleece on top. Towels generally don’t dry quickly enough and it can sometimes mean that the top layer of fleece remains wetter for longer which will cause problems.
Fleece needs to be wicked first - you need to wash it several times before use.

is the dog towel absorbent? You need something to absorb urine etc once it passes through the fleece. There’s no need for -remade.

washable or displosable puppy pads

We use the Vetfleece brand Inconti-pet washable puppy pads, the are very absorbent and wash and dry really well. You might also invest in some small washable fleece pee pads, about 6x9 inches in size, that you can put under their hidey houses and change every day to keep their paws dry- these are usually much cheaper than full cage liners, you can buy them on eBay, I got a pack of 7 for £20 or they are about £5 each- or you could sew your own, if you sew at all!
