Hi All,

I took my boys to get there nails cut yesterday and what an fiasco! Milo (seen in picture) was not having any of it. He was wriggling and making noises I have not heard before and trying to bite my clothes. The vet said he was the most 'spirited' guinea pig she had ever seen.

I am dreading the next visit. Any advise on how to calm him down?

Thanks

I think its a boy thing, whenever i take my 3 to get their nails cut and we wormed etc my boy makes more fuss than the girls, he squeals SO LOUD as if something terrible is happening to him, he hates it, the girls aren't fussed.

That is a relief. My other piggie Max was good as gold and sat quietly and did not move. I guess it is just his personality.

Having said that whenever we are using nail clippers on ourselves they all run into hiding and make the shudder noise everytime they hear the clip lol, bless.

completely wrap them in a towel with just the foot pocking out, being in the dark will keep them calm

My aren't all that good so I can hardly advise. When we took ours for a check up and claw clipping Nutty was good as gold and it cost £8. With Nibbles squealing, running away and biting the vet quite a lot she charged £15. We didn't argue it or question the extra 'danger pay' she charged. We just put our heads down and got out sharpish hoping no one would recognise us!

I have found though that taking a few sprigs of parsley and giving them regular little pieces makes them slightly more cooperative!

Good luck when you go though. If yours are anything like mine you'll need it!
