Hey there i just got my pig last week(4-5 months old) and i was wondering when i should bring Jacob to the vet for a check up because i figure he needs to go at some point right? or do i till he starts getting ill (i dont know, i dont go for check ups so i dont know if he needs to :p) ... also he has been very playful and happy but starting a day or so ago he has been going quite a bit at a time but its all solid. For example, I brought him out and put him in a huge 6 x3 area to run around in and wjhen i came back after leaving him alone for a bout 10 minutes, there must have been at least a dozen or so pellets in a pile from just one sitting. is this normal?

I don't think you need to worry about too much poo. As long as it's firm and well formed then lots of poo is good poo. Guinea pigs to tend to sit and poop in one place then get up, go somewhere else and poop all over again. :(|)

If your pet is healthy and happy you don't need to take him to the vet. However, if you have any concerns about his health or the conditions in which he was previously kept, it certainly won't hurt for him to be checked over.

Do you have Jacob on his own? I only ask because guinea pigs are happiest with their own kind, so it's generally recommended that they have a friend. :)

Hello and welcome :) I wouldn't worry about the poo's. It sounds pretty normal to me.

Whenever I have taken on a new guinea pig, I have phoned up my vet to register them just so they are registered for the future.

If you are concerned in anyway, there is no harm in taking him for a check up :)

I would like to get him a pal but right now i only have a 29"L by 15"W which is most likely not big enough for another guy, right?
