I've been adding two scoops of Vetark ProC probiotic to Jerry's water bottle for the past two weeks as he's on a course of antibiotics. I've been using this probiotic for a few years now and have found it to work well. I've just opened a new tub and added it to some water and it has turned the water dark green! It usually adds a slight green tinge to the water, but it's never been like this before. I've checked the ingredients and it contains chlorophyll which would explain the usual colour, but I'm a bit concerned as to just how dark it is this time. The pack was sealed, as usual, and is in date.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Never :/ Only a very very slight green tinge but that's expected due to the colour of the powder. Maybe contact the manufacturer, or the outlet that you bought it at? Has it got a date on or anything?

It has an expiry date of 04/14. The tub was sealed on the outside, and the probiotic powder was also in a sealed bag so it couldn't be damp or anything

That's really odd :/ On the vetark website it says it will turn the water light green but not dark...this is what it says:
Pro-C makes a light green solution (because of the chlorophyll) and because the chlorophyll is a natural product the final colour varies a little.
Perhaps you've got a strong batch? I honestly can't think what the problem would be if it was all sealed up.

Thanks for looking it up :)
Jerry has been over to his bottle and has been happily tucking in, so I'm guessing it doesn't taste any different. It just looks very strange with it being so green!

The tub I've got at the moment is turning the water a dark green. It's dated 11/14. This has happened before and I've emailed the company the response was as Iamsnape mentioned, its to do with the chlorophyll. Saying that though when I emailed before the response only took 2 days to come through - if only to put your mind at rest.

I'm guessing some chrolophyll is greener than others depending on the batch, it's a natural ingredient so will probably have variations. I would drop a quick email as suggested by Midge&Panda though, it's worth it just to put your mind at rest.

I bought a tub and used it for a sick pig for a while, it turned the water a greeny colour which I expected. The tub got damp so I chucked it and bought a new tub for the next sick pig, and it turned the water a much paler green, so I guess it varies?

Thanks everyone. That's reassuring. It just looks so bad - like I don't clean the water bottles! :( I'm thinking about chucking it and buying another tub, but it's quite pricey.

Jerry is so fussy that if it tasted even slightly different he probably wouldn't go anywhere near it, so I suppose that's a good sign too.
