I would like some soft bedding material for my outside bunnies and Guineas.

Would vetbed be the best? We use them at work (a vets) and I find they are really easy to wash and dry. Although, to be fair, that is only when they have had dogs and cats on them.

What would you recommend and do you know the cheapest place to get them? I have found some vetbed on ebay:

Is that a good price?!

I use primark fleece throws in my cage at the moment, wash really well and cheap as chips at £2 a throw.

I would like to try some vet bed though see the difference

I have the pink version of the vetbed from ebay, and it is fantastic stuff! I have the white original vetbed from pets at home too. And the only difference is the price. Ebay is MUCH cheaper, and the quality is very good.

Definately gets the thumbs up from me, and my piggies:)) x

I'm interested in this also ... what are the differences in performance of fleece and vetbed?

also, how do people fix either of these down on of my pigs in particular likes to nudge up the corner of blankets / towels etc.. and crawl under them rolleyes:))

I've only used what I stated above, and both are equally great. As far as flicking up the vetbed/fleece goes, only my cheeky boars do thatrolleyes, they make tunnels going into their houses! But they like it, so who am I to moan:)). The girls on the other hand have the right idea and sprool out on top of it :)

What kind of fleece is used for guinea pig bedding? I could get some regular fleece (the type they use to make baby blankets, I guess, judging by the Winnie the Pooh patterns) for about 1/8 of the cost of VetBed, and with the cost of having the hutch built, I don't think I can afford the VetBed just now. Would regular fleece work in the interim?

i got mine from www.profleece.co.uk - some people have found the stuff from ebay a bit stiff and harder to clean.

I have this in my C&C and use fleecing for when they are out of the cage. Its good stuff, i wouldnt go back to anything else - one of mine anyway is allergic to sawdust so one of the reasons i swapped!

I have this one from this seller, but I got 3 larger ones. I bought it a year ago nearly and it is still fantastic, washes up eally well and better quality than the one you looked at because it is thicker pile and rubber backed so it is non slip. It is dearer but worth it in the long run. I have the cheaper stuff which I got before and it moves and slips and is much lighter. His postage is good as it is one price for however many you buy!

The fleece you use for piggies is 100% polyester. Most common is polar fleece. So pretty much any fleece blankets/rolls/throws you find are likely to be fine. I bought my fleece off eBay, it was more expensive than buying from Dunnes/Ikea/Tesco etc. but it is the highest quality I've ever bought.

I prefer fleece to Vetbed based on day to day cleaning, price and variety. I find poops and hay get stuck in Vetbed too easily, and *personally* I find that more tricky to deal with than anything that would come up with fleece. (Though if any of my pigs were to take to burrowing under the fleece, I may change my mind!) You can just brush poops and most of the hay off fleece as it is a flat surface. Also the price is a major issue with a cage as big as mine!

But other than that, I love Vetbed and would recommend it to everyone. I have a few old strips of it (most 1x2 long) which I lay down to create ultra cosy areas in the cage, and the pigs love it.
I couldn't do without the patterns though; I know some Vetbed has pawprints on, but I do love seeing the flying pigs/blue duckies/teddy bears/Winnie the Pooh fleeces in the cages!
