Hi all,

I have been reading that a lot of you use fleece in your Piggy's cages.

Could any of you provide a link to a website where I can get some?

When we first got Mali we were told to use hay to layer his cage - out of curiosity why is fleece better?

Only want the best for my wee cherub! Thanks sooo much. The knowledge on here is invaluable! x x x

i use a ground sheet (no correx) then puppy pads then fleece. I believe vet bed is better but i had never heard of it when i changed to fleece. I have litter trays with newspaper then finacard then hay in their cages and extra towel and fleece where they sometimes wee. You wash the fleece three times without detergent . The idea of the fleece is that if they wee it will wick through to the pads or towels so stay dry. I got my fleeces from b&m (pet fleece) and works great. Also got two for 4 quid plain colours from b&m. You can buy cage liners but because one of my cages is an awkward shape wouldnt work for me. I do have to change litter trays every other day and if they wee on the smaller bits of fleece that gets changed as well. I find it a lot easier than bedding as just need to brush up poos twice a day. My piggies seem to enjoy it and nice and soft on their feet. You do have to wash the fleece at 60 degrees to kill germs and you have to factor in the washing and drying time. I am a stay at home mum so not a problem for me. I would never go back to full cage of bedding. What do you have them on at the moment? and by the way totally in love with your piggy, he is absolutely stunning, so jealous. Is he peruvian?

Aww thank you for your advice.

We made a rookie mistake and had him on sawdust and hay when we got him. The vet advised we put him just on hay so that's what he's got - with soft bedding in his house.

We have been told Mali is either a Peruvian, sheltie or a Coronet by different vet's

Have you got any idea?

He's not long been neutered so we will get him a wife in a few weeks xx x

Your Piggy is gorgeous too x x

He is gorgeous!
With hay as bedding it can be quite pricey as you throw a lot out. I get my vetbed from dogsproductsdirect.

i would say peruvian. He looks like my pebbles hair lies different on a sheltie, they dont have the quiff

That site looks good i need to measure my cage to see how much i need :)

I found my vetbed lasted a week between washes but I dont use it anymore, do watch out if you're trying to save money once electricity and detergents are factored in it can work out dearer than bulk bought disposable beddings it depends on your cage size, how often you clean out etc :-)

Hello handsome! so gorgeous

I was thinking of using vet bed for when Rory gets neutered when he's in his recovery cage. Am open to other options as well though
Vetbed is good if you have allergies apparently and can be cut to fit the cage.

Did you use anything underneath it? I've just purchased some as my little piggie has sore feet from the sawdust. :)
