Hi

I use vetbed in my piggies' cage as I thought it would be more comfortable for them and easier to keep clean than other bedding options. I change the vetbed twice weekly, and disinfect the cage at this time. However, I've found that after a day or two, the vetbed is soaked through, especially at the corners and really should be changed maybe 3-4 times a week. I couldn't keep up the washing if I changed them this frequently. What do others do with vetbed? Should I put towels underneath the vetbed?

You cannot use vet bed alone. You have to use towels underneath to adsorb the water. Vet bed should be washed every three days at 60 degrees.

Hurray another Londoner!

Have you washed the bedding with conditioner ?
The secret is to wash it a few times, not add conditioner and dry before use. Wee will wick to the base and keep the surface dry.
I swear by vet bed as I find it easier to change having so many piggies. You can air dry overnight or hang outdoors if the weathers good :)
Try not to tumble dry if possible although I have resorted to this in emergencies.
These are great suppliers on Ebay:

I'm loving the camo designs - good for macho boars ;)

I put a few layers of newspaper underneath the vetbed, and change the soiled newspaper twice a day (this is usually only needed for the corners)

I haven't used conditioner and always hang it out to dry. :)

I may use newspaper instead of towels as it will reduce amount of washing. Thanks :)

B&M do puppy pee pads for £4.99 for ... lots... it will absorb more than news paper which doesn't absorb much urine, to be honest. When I had vet bed I used pee pads and they were quite handy. You just lift the vet bed, roll up the soiled pee pads and plop another one down. Once a week I'd lift everything and scrub the base (because I'm paranoid). :)

If you can't get them cheap - don't get them at all, though!
