Just been speaking to a lady about her guinea and I'm on the lookout for a good vet in Northumberland. Specific area is Ashington, twenty minutes from Newcastle, but the lady is willing to travel a bit.

Vet needs to be good with dental problems. I have checked the Vet List and there's one in Gateshead, which isn't too far away.

If anyone knows of any more decent vets or rodentologists in that area could you let me know please? Thanks.

Hi Laura,

Yes I think I know the lady you are talking about.

Unfortunately there are very few vets in this area who are any good at all with guineas teeth. I haven't found a really good one anyway, nor have any of my adopters.

The vet I use is very good with guinea teeth and did one of mine recently who is doing really well now and has no further problems. She uses GA though, and if it is the lady I think you are talking about then I don't think her guinea will take a further op.

Nearest rodentologist I know of is in Sheffield.

I saw a vet down on the list for Gateshead but it didn't have the specific vets name, so I'm not sure if that vet is good with teeth or not.

If you hear of anyone please let me know as I'd love to know.

Thanks for your reply Layla. Yes, the guinea is quite old and has already been through one dental with GA a few weeks back. Low weight too, from the sounds of things. I've advised her as best I can but from what the lady said the teeth really do need sorting again before any real progress can be made.

I will see if I can find out about rodentologists, I'll let you know if I find any.

Yes the guinea is quite old (6 years) and has had a few GAs now, and isn't eating or accepting food really at all, he doesn't sound in a good way at all.

I phoned Vedra a few weeks ago and the nearest she had on her list was Sheffield, so if anything has changed or changes in future please let me know.
