I'm putting together a binder of looking after the pigs when I go away and so my brother can follow it.
For vets I have my usual vet Miriam at Severn vets in St Johns Worcester who is really good for pigs, While she isn't as awesome as Simon Maddock she is the next best as Simon is a 2 hour drive away from me.
The out of hours emergency vets is not at my vets and with a company called Vets Now LTD and their website doesn't give much on guinea pigs. Just the cats, dogs and rabbits

The vets near my brother is terrible for guinea pigs and more or less treat them as a disposable pet and they offer an out hours emergency service.

Has anyone used the Vets now service or should I just look around for more emergency vets to put in my folder

The quality and knowledge of vets at vets now is pot luck I'm afraid. My local vets now is made up of vets that work at lots of different surgeries during the day. I had a very bad experience with them a few years ago, but that was just one particular vet. We've used them subsequetly for a cat and the man we saw was wonderful.

Ive used vets now in an emergency with one of my guineas at the branch near me, the vet I saw was really good, I also spoke to a different vet on the phone, both were quite knowledgeable and knew what they were on about, I would also agree with Little Pig that it may be pot luck who you get. I suppose its the same with any emergency vet service though, but its always better than nothing. Maybe give your brother a few numbers and should a problem occur, he can try a few to see if there is good guineea vet available.

I've used a Vets Now vet on one occasion and she was brilliant. The Vets Now in Aberdeen seems to be made up of vets from various different practices. My usual vet actually does shifts for Vets Now.
