Vibes For Cookie

Cookie was diagnosed with a tumour last month. We opted not to invasive treatment and go palliative care she is nearly six and has been through a lot, we can't put her through something with such a slim chance of recovery. For the most part she is happy and eating still, she is on a high dose of painkiller and is still quite active but has dipped a little this weekend.

Keep our special girl in your thoughts, I would like her for one last Christmas and a cuddle during Polar Express but if our hands are forced earlier then we will do what needs to be done for her.

Thanks, she just looked so hunched up :( so I went over to her and she ran over to me. We have a really nice bond. She must have been swinging the lead a little :)) she is now in the food bowl filling her face... I have relaxed the pellet rule so she just eats anything she wants at the moment... making everyday a good day for her.

Thanks Jo, we have had one year more than we thought after the jaw bone spur and jaw arthritis so far more time than I expected. I am privileged to have had her in my life

She just wanted attention and knows how to get it! It's wonderful when you get a strong bond with an animal, I will be thinking of you both.

My sow , Bess was diagnosed with Tumour a few months ago. It really brings home the importance of giving them the best quality of life.

Thanks buddy. I know I will, I just hate the power and weight of the decision.... She is so changeable this weekend.

It's awful having to make a decision on their behalf. The vet offered to do a biopsy but I knew this wouldn't change her treatment .
I'll send her your love.

Yup exactly what we decided. Sometimes you have to put your pain aside and do what is right by them. That is why we make good pet owners.
 
I'm so sorry your poor girl has had this diagnosis. You are all in my thoughts. I really hope she keeps going for a long while yet, but if not atleast until the new year for you! Xx
 
Oh Lee, I'm so sorry to read this. The great burden of responsibility sits heavily on us, but I'm absolutely sure that you will do the very best for your old girl when the time comes. Until then, just treasure your time with your Cookie. Hugest hugs to you and Rachel.
 
Keeping everything crossed that you have your special girl with you for Christmas, she may well surprise you, she's such a fighter.

We are letting Katie eat whatever she wants too, I am not sure how long she will be with us, but like Cookie we will let her be our guide. At the moment she is still shouting for veg and climbing up our legs so we are happy with that. She's just tiny.
 
Really sorry Lee. I'm sure she will guide you in terms of the right time. I have no doubt you'll make everyday extra special for her. Shes absolutely stunning. Such a gentle and kind face.

I am sending my vibes for Cookie and am keeping my fingers VERY firmly crossed!

Feeling for you, as I am currently going through the same with Tanni, who is going to have her fifth Gotcha Day (Adoption Day) on 4th January. Her tumour has been growing and is now clearly visible despite her thick coat, so I don't know whether she going to make her special day, either. Like you, I decided to follow my vet's advice to not operate in view of her age and the unpromising odds. :(

Poor cookie and poor you and Rach. It's so sad but I guess none of us get to live forever :no: and you have given her a wonderful life. Sending loads of healing vibes and many crossed fingers that she stays well over Christmas x

:( lots of vibes for miss cookie crumble, shes always been one of my fave forum piggies. Really really hope you get to spend one last extra special christmas with her, though if she sadly cant be there in pigson she most definitely will be watching over you all in spirit. xx
