Genghis (the piggy in my avatar) is my eldest piggy. I rehomed him from a friend who was sold him as a female (from our favourite pet store). Hes approximately 5 and a half years old.

I took Genghis to the vet yesterday morning as he was looking very sad and lethargic. Our vet was very thorough. Genghis was a little impacted (nothing unusal for a boar his age) but she could not find anything abnormal apart from being worried he looked very sad. Genghis had an x-ray to check there were no blockages and all looked normal. So he had an antibiotic injection and fluid injections under his skin. Last night he ate all his veg and seemed a little brighter.

Today hes eaten more but his poos are still very small and when he had floor time he was more active. However, he still doesn't look very happy. :(

I hope that he can pull through this. Hes an amazing piggy

xx

Poor Genghis. He is very handsome. I don't really have any advice but wonder if it is worth syringe feeding some critical care to keep his strength up? I so hope he gets well soon xx

Genghis looks like a sweetie, and what a fab name!
I'm sorry to hear he's under the weather, when my boars are impacted or loose i stop there veggies for around a week to as long as it takes. It's hard to deny them treats but as long as they have hay and dried food they'll be fine. I also get Pro-C Probiotic from pets at home, its a probiotic powder with vitamin C and glucose that you add to their water, it works a charm! I swear by it and always have some in now. The piggies love it too which is a bonus.

Hope this helps, hugs to Genghis x

poor piggie, perhaps he is like us and needs some sunshine. That probiotic stuff is really good, Bertie slurps it up. I have given some to my old gerbil as well and he has perked up. I hope Genghis seems happier soon x

Genghis is eating plenty of veg and hay over night. I have topped him up with recovery food and lactade from the vets.

His poops seem a little more normal. Hes more active and more responsive to voice.

I can only hope that hes ok.

Lots of cuddles for the old man tonight. Keep the vibes coming please x
