I feel sick. I was nearly in tears leaving him this morning.

It will be better for him because he will soon be able to live with his wives but my stomach is churning.

Going home at lunchtime to sort his cage out for him coming home. Bless his wee socks. :(

a GP castration is a really quick, minimally invasive procedure, I've had all of my 4 castrated, and there's been no complications with any of them :)

Thanks for that. It has put my mind at ease a wee bit. Just hope he is okay. My stomach is churning. x

BIG HUG

I find the wait until the op is over and you have your piggy back the worst bit! Fingers crossed that Victor is sailing throgh his op and bouncing back!

I hope so, the vet was really pleased with his weight and stuff this morning saying he was a big strapping lad and should be fine. She is a guinea pig owner too and was really informative.

I've to phone back at 2pm then pick up at 5pm. It cant come quick enough!

II'm having my two boars done on wednesday, but I was pretty okay about it as my usual vet was gonna do it, but he's been called away so is getting a locum in, apparently she has done quite a few gp castrations without complications, but I'm still worried now...

I dont blame you for being worried. I'm a nervous wreck!

Hope everything goes well for your boys. xx

I had my Lilly nuetured and he was fine and no complications or probs afterwards, thinking of you x

bless you hun, I was the same, I nipped to my parents for a quick cuddle with him to say sorry took him to the vets and couldn't even get him out to say goodbye otherwise I would have been in floods. I was sick with worry all day but he's been perfectly fine and a few more weeks and he will be living with his wives so its all been worth it

Thanks i'm away to give the vets a phone. I went to tesco at lunchtime and bought all his favourite veggies and loads of cucumber incase he doesnt drink (he's not a good drinker) and cleaned and sorted his cage and took out anything he can jump up on so i think he's all sorted for coming home now. :)

Just phoned the vet and she says he is doing really well and has even had some baby food. I am so happy!!! And relieved!

Yay :)

If they give him antibiotics, make sure you have some probiotic on hand too, and also if you don't already have any, some critical care formula and syringes may be useful incase he decides hes not going to eat and the vets are already closed. It's always handy to have in a cupboard somewhere even if you don't use it for him :)

Thanks for that. I'll get them all from the vet when i go to collect them. :) x

Victor had a really good first night. He is now eating and pooping as normal and even managed a wee rumble at the girls this morning. So proud of my little man. Hope he is out of the woods now. My boyfriend is calling me Gillian McKeith for checking his poos and wees haha! x :)

Great to hear that Victor is doing well!

:))
I know how you feel - had my two boars done 5 weeks ago and thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown mallethead
Piggies are quite hardy really (but mine are big babies :(|)) - you will pamper them more than ever after...
Love ang piggy hugs to Victor from us all here x>>

Thanks for the well wishes. He was up and about last night and is getting back to his usual self. In 6 weeks he'll think all his xmasses have come at once haha! :) xx
