Hi all,
I just wanted you to watch this and let me know if any of your guinea pigs did this? This is actually zeb being well behaved, hes stopped running and throwing himself at the side of his cage. He spends all day lying on top of his igloo then this is how he acts when he sees another guinea pig. Normally there is some rumbling and chattering aswel but he must of been in a good mood when i took this. Mute the sound as iv got a bad chest when i did this and it sounds creapy! Its running slower than real time something to do with the way i loaded it dont know what i did tho. Zeb doesnt seem to like other pigs but gets depressed when he cant see any. Hopefully this is normal behaviour and i just worry over silly things x

if hes doing that when he smells another piggle, i wouldnt worry. my bob goes mad when he smells another piggle too (not munhcie his cagemate of course)

he squeals and sniffs and chews and runs and climbs and scratches to try and find the other piggie
 
with zeb its more like out killing. He cant be around other guinea pigs at the moment without attacking them. Hes been living next to the ones hes with there for 2 weeks! That is zeb at his calmest. Unless he cant see any pigs then he mopes about depressed.
 
Just wanted to add that zeb has lived in my guinea pig room since he was 4wks old.He was part of a trio but bullied the others then attacked one of them a few weeks ago so had to be seperated.
 
I really dont know what to do about him. Last night before i went to work he got really bad again chattering throwing himself trying to dig through the sides of his cage and the others were getting stressed out so i moved him so he couldnt see other pigs. Came in today and he is so depressed just lying on top of his igloo moping about. I feel stuck if i put him next to pigs I'm worried hes going to really hurt himself or give himself a heart attack plus it stresses out the other pigs. If i have him on his own hes depressed and not eating alot unless hes downstairs with me. Its like he enjoys terrorising other pigs and gets depressed if he cant. Il admit it made me cry seeing him before because i just feel hes really un happy and i dont know how to help him. x
 
i cant have any more pigs in my room as bob would go more mental. we tried to introduce him and munchie to vincent and cid once, so they could have floor time together, but vincent humped bob, and bob attacked vincent ::)

zeb does look a crazy piggy though, cant believe it after seeing those gorgeous piccies of him in the photo gallery :o
 
I would say he is frustrated. Who lives next door to him? Boar or Sow?
 
I only keep boars. It doesnt matter who i put next to zeb he acts the same.
 
when i used to have a metal bar cage my boys used to chew them too but i think mine were fileing their teeth down but it looks like he wants to be entertained or run round.
 
Do you give him free range every day?, as it does look like his behavior is due to boredom :(
 
yes he does get run time in the bedroom probably more than my other pigs where he just walks about strutting . I also make a special effort with him to give him extra cuddles and lap time because hes my only pig who lives alone.
 
Hmmm can you give him toys to play with. Maybe he is bored when he's in his cage.
 
you cant see it in the clip but he does have some toys in his cage. i agree that zeb does not like being in a cage. sometimes it does seem like hes trying to get at the other pgs because hes lonely but as soon as hes with one he attacks them. hes not frightened of other pigs tho. Its pure agression but he does love people and has never bitten anyone. hes happy when hes with humans so part of me thinks i should bring him downstairs but then hes going to be living alone and not even able to see and hear other pigs which i dont know if ithat would be good or bad for him. Its like when he sees pigs he wants to kill them and when he hears them but cant see them he gets depressed because he cant attack any.
 
I never thought of that but your right it does only happen outside his house. He never does it when he cant see boars which he cant at the moment I just looked in on him and hes actually curled up inside his igloo. :smitten: I think thats good as hes normally lying on top of it. Now you have me thnking maybe hes guarding his territory?
