I'm a bit concerned about Merry. I've been noticing that he often has difficulty in finding his food. I normally keep three bowls in their cage, two for pellets and one for water.
When I give them veggies I put a plate or bowl in. Pippin always rushes over, but Merry often just noses around the cage, sniffing. He looks really interested, but doesn't seem to notice the bowl even if its in the middle of the cage. If I hand feed him he will take it, but when they're in a bowl it can take him quite a while to find them. Today he wondered from one corner of the cage, straight past a bowl of celery into a tunnel which he then backed out of, but was very pleased to be handed some.
Am I worrying too much, is he just a bit 'slower' than Pippin, or do you think he might have a problem?

How old is he?
Pigs that are blind have no problems locating food or water. They have an excellent sense of smell. Sight plays very little part in finding food.

Not sure, Teresa reckoned he was only one. He often seems very surprised to see me as well. If I haven't made a noise when I come in the room he can get really shocked when I open the cage, and bolts across the cage. if I speak as soon as I come in then he will be just fine. He could just be more flighty than Pippin I guess.. and not so bright?
